Homography Optimization for Consistent Circular Panorama Generation
نویسندگان
چکیده
A 360◦ panorama is generated from images freely taken by a hand-held camera: images are pasted together and mapped onto a cylindrical surface. First, the lack of orientation information is overcome by invoking “oriented projective geometry”. Then, the inconsistencies arising from a 360◦ rotation of the viewing direction are resolved by optimizing all the homographies between images simultaneously, using Gauss-Newton iterations based on a Lie algebra representation. The effectiveness of our method is demonstrated using real images.

A Novel Approach for Generation of Panoramic View
Panoramic image stitching is the process of combining multiple photographic images with overlapping fields of view to produce a panorama. First, salient features are robustly detected from the input images by a robust algorithm called Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT). SIFT features are invariant to rotation, translation, image scaling and partially invariant to 3D viewpoint, illuminatio...
متن کاملHomography estimation using Analytical Fourier-Mellin Transform
The paper presents a registration algorithm based on the Analytical Fourier-Mellin Transform (AFMT). In the Fourier Mellin registration algorithm, the estimation of the geometrical transformation is only done in the Fourier Transform phase domain which is known by containing the shape information. The proposed algorithm will be used to estimate homography since in the vicinity of key points, we...
متن کاملStitching Large Maps from Videos Taken by a Camera Moving Close over a Plane Using Homography Decomposition
For applications such as underwater monitoring a platform with a camera will be moving close to a large roughly planar scene. The idea to map the scene by stitching a panorama using planar homographies is nearby. However, serious problems occur with drift caused by uncertainty in the estimation of the matrices and un-modelled lens distortions. Sooner or later image points will be mapped to infi...
متن کاملRecovery of Circular Motion from Profiles of Surfaces
This paper addresses the problem of motion recovery from image profiles, in the important case of turntable sequences. No correspondences between points or lines are used. Symmetry properties of surfaces of revolution are exploited to obtain, in a robust and simple way, the image of the rotation axis of the sequence and the homography relating epipolar lines. These, together with geometric cons...
متن کامل1D Camera Geometry and Its Application to Circular Motion Estimation
This paper describes a new and robust method for estimating circular motion geometry from an uncalibrated image sequence. Under circular motion, all the camera centers lie on a circle, and the mapping of the plane containing this circle to the horizon line in the image can be modelled as a 1D projection. A 2×2 homography is introduced in this paper to relate the projections of the camera center...
